How to substitute buttermilk with Milk + Lemon Juice

1 cup milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice
Allow 5 to 10 minutes for the milk to curdle and thicken.

- Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to the milk.

- 1.5 cup flour
- 2 tbsp sugar

- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbsp lemon juice

- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Prepare the buttermilk substitute by mixing milk and lemon juice and letting it sit for 10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg, then stir in the prepared buttermilk substitute, melted butter, and vanilla.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; a few lumps are okay.
- Heat a griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it.
- Pour 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the griddle.
- Cook until bubbles form on the surface and edges look set, then flip and cook until golden brown on the other side.
- Serve warm with maple syrup.
